The Ministry of Education will be staging the first ever Jump Rope for Heart Freestyle Championship for the primary schools in the mining town of Linden.
The Jump Rope for Heart will be organized by the Department of Education, Region 10 and will be held during the Linden Town Week, 2014. The top 30 Freestyle Jumpers from the Primary schools in the Linden area will be on show on April 29, 2014 at the Wisroc/Amelia’s Ward Car Park.
This is an individual competition where each participant will be judged on areas, such as, techniques, creativity, acrobatic skills among others. Jump Rope which is better known as ‘skipping’ contributes to a wide range of fitness components such as resistance, agility, coordination, speed, strength.
This form of the sport will mark the beginning of individual freestyle competitions where the first champion will be crowned and will go down in the annals of Guyana.
Additionally, to the freestyle competition there will be a “Last Man Standing” challenge where all participants will try to see who can skip the longest.
