The Region Three (3)- [Essequibo Island- West Demerara] Education Department is taking steps to ensure the 59th National Schools Swimming, Cycling and Track and Field Championship which will be held at three venues including the Leonora Track and Field Centre from November 17-22, is incident-free and that the athletes behaviours are in keeping with what is required.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) held its 23rd National Awards Ceremony, for outstanding performances at the primary, secondary and vocational level. The ceremony was held today at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) and saw more than 50 learners from both primary and secondary schools along with students from the Carnegie School of Home Economics and the Technical Institutes across the country receiving prizes and awards for outstanding performances.

Nicolette Henry was today paid a courtesy call from Dr Toney May, Commonwealth of Learning Specialist accompanied by General-Secretary of the UNESCO Secretariat in Guyana, Ms. Patrice LaFleur. The Commonwealth of Learning is an inter-governmental organisation based in Canada, with the Commonwealth being its parent organisation.
