Ms. Carol Ann Benn
Senior Education Officer / National Coordinator PTAs

Ms. Carol Ann Benn is currently employed with the Ministry as a Senior Education Officer / National Coordinator PTAs with responsibility for Management and supervision of all PTAs in Guyana.Among her many responsibilities, Ms Benn manages and supervises all PTAs in Guyana and communicates with others around the Caribbean; Organized, hosted and facilitated at Parenting Workshops at selected schools throughout Guyana; Structured the Ministry of Education Student programme. Her love for teaching and educating saw her taking up several posts from as early as 1987 to 2010, including the position of Head-teacher at St. Thomas Moore Primary School where she was responsible for the overall Management of the school Plant as well as Conducting Staff Development Sessions and Clinical Supervision with teachers. She also served as Chairman of the Guyana Teachers’ Union North Branch and Chairman of Women Across Differences. She continues to serve on several boards.


Ms. Carol Ann Benn has a Master in Education (M Ed)- Education Management, Supervision and Planning; a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) (Primary) and a Certificate in Education (Primary) among other qualifications.
Upon leaving Secondary School, she entered the Cyril Potter College of Education in August of 1992 where she obtained the Trained Teacher’s Certificate (Primary) with a Major in Social Studies. In 1998 she sat the Teachers Intermediate Examination at the Ministry of Education, later entering the Critchlow Labour College pursuing studies in Industrial and Social Studies Course. As a graduate of the University of Guyana, she obtained a Certificate in Education (Primary) then later went on to obtain a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) (Primary) and her Master in Education (M Ed)- Education Management, Supervision and Planning.

Her Aspiration:
To assume a position in educational leadership in one or more of the following areas: school leadership, teaching and learning, supervision of instruction, professional development, school improvement, student assessment, educational research and evaluation and Teacher-parent collaboration, etc...

Her Mission:
To improve student learning and achievement and parent teacher relationship by effectively imparting knowledge gained and experiences through lectures and by building capacity for continuous school improvement and school effectiveness.
