2013 CSEC/CAPE Top Performs from the Region Awarded ,Guyana gained Five of Eight CSEC Awards
The Region’s top Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) students were last evening recognised and rewarded at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) awards ceremony for the Region’s top performers, held at the National Cultural Centre.
Guyana’s Yogeeta Persaud from the Anna Regina Multilateral School emerged the best overall candidate with her 18 grade ones. She expressed profound gratitude to all parents, guardians, teachers and governments of the region, for their support and encouragement.
More than 300 Guyanese Educators attend stakeholders meeting with CXC
Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) executive members on Wednesday engaged over 300 teachers and principals from all across Guyana at the Guyana International Conference Centre, as part of their 45th Meeting of Council. The meeting sought to address concerns plaguing the education system in Guyana that were raised by the principals and teachers.
Topping the agenda for discussion was the topic of School Based Assessments (SBA) and their worthiness as a tool for actually assessing children's performances and the likeliness of originality. Chairing the conference, Pro Registrar Glenroy Cumberbatch stated that CXC will not be doing away with this method of assessment.
CXC Awardees thrilled by majestic Kaieteur Falls
The visiting Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) regional top performers and their Guyanese counterparts were thrilled by the experience of visiting the majestic Kaieteur Falls on Tuesday, as well as several other scenic locations in Guyana.
Eleven of the region’s brightest students and the five from Guyana who topped the Caribbean are being hosted at the Pegasus Hotel, as part of the activities for CXC’s governance meetings and awards ceremony being held this week.
