In observance of Guyana’s 51st Republic Anniversary Celebrations, the Ministry of Education be conducting the Child Art and Essay Competitions under the theme: “Celebrating Our Veracity in Diversity: Mash 2021 Redefined in Style”. This Theme posits that 2020 was a difficult year for many and has caused us all to make significant adjustments to our lives due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is against this backdrop that we use this opportunity to redefine Mash, 2021 in style. Style, because it provides our learners with a “stage” to be creative and innovative in their efforts to celebrate and showcase the authenticity in in diversities as a Guyanese people.

Additionally, the first letter of each word in the first part of the theme spells out the term COVID. This serves as a reminder that we are still in a pandemic but more importantly encourages us all to recognise that there is a space for something positive and great to come out of every negative situation simply because we have life. This definitely remains a reason to celebrate.

The Ministry of Education will also showcase the talents of our learners through a segment titled “Reflections of Children’s Mashramani Activities”. This will sensitize the public of this annual activity; bring comfort to all those learners who would have participated as well as those who did not participate.
