“The experiential nature of Art tell a story…we can regard them as the soul and spirit of the artists. Each of the pieces on display is unique and I am sure will challenge your imagination,” the Director of Culture (ag.), Ms. Tamika Boatswain said.

She added that the exhibition offers an opportunity for all to see how the artists view the world and more particularly their country, the people and culture that enrich it. In addition, they are providing a legacy from which generations to come will benefit.

“I trust that as a result of today’s viewing, we will become more appreciative of the works of our artists and the contribution they make to help enrich the culture of their particular societies, and by extension the world at large,” Ms. Boatswain said.

On Thursday, April 20 from 14:00-17:00, there will be an ‘Artists in Action’ event, and presentations on art in Suriname.
