Lindeners celebrate Mashramani in March

Lindeners yesterday took to the streets in their numbers, some to gyrate and flounce behind the few floats and others to line the roadways to watch the colorful 20170306 1

Beginning a bit late due to inclement weather earlier in the day, the parade kicked off on the Mackenzie shore at the Linden/ Georgetown bus park and wended its way across the Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge to the Bayroc Community Centre Ground, where it culminated in party mode.

Georgetown schools abuzz with pre-Mash activities

The Government Information Agency (GINA) visited a number of these locations and captured the unity, the colour, and the excitement as the country prepares to celebrate its 47th Republic Anniversary 20170224 1

At St. Angela’s Primary School, there was a Patriotic Day, as well as a concert which saw local artistes in attendance including Kwesi Ace, Calvin Burnette and Vanilla.

Mashramani – A true Guyanese celebration

Mashramani!!! This is celebration for a job well done or as most Guyanese know it as, celebration after hard work. Mashramani is a Guyanese tradition that is celebrated by all ethnic 20170223

Despite the inclement weather, Guyanese turned out in their numbers to witness the beautiful display of colours showcased by the participating costume bands parading along Brickdam. Most importantly, the unity among Guyanese was very noticeable.
