Spectacular displays at the Mashramani Children’s Costume competition

The Costume portion of the Mashramani Children’s competition saw spectacular execution from various schools at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, this past Thursday.

Costumes on display came from students in the nursery, primary and secondary schools which depicted Guyana’s cultural and historical events in two categories – Tropical and Fantasy.
For the Individual Nursery segment, Head Start Nursery came out on top with “Celebrations of Love” and “Cinderella Goes to the Ball”, taking first and third places respectively, while Turkeyen Nursery was awarded second place with “United One”.
In the Nursery Group segment, “Guyana: A Beautiful Garden” won first place with Turkeyen Nursery placing second with “Different Culture, One Celebration”. This left Liana Nursery in third position with their entry, “The Game (Amazon Warriors)”.
F.E Pollard Primary managed to place first with the entry “Three Fairies Visit Mashramani”, while Bel Air Primary brought second with “Our Cultural Heritage” in the 5 to 7 Individual Primary segment.
The 8 to 10 group segment of the same category saw St. Angela’s Primary win first with “Queen of Eldorado” with South Ruimveldt Park Primary’s “Unity Under the Sun” winning second, and St. Agnes Primary awarded third for “Tourism in Bloom”.
As St. Stephen’s Primary was the only school to participate in the 11 to 13 segment, it was adjudged winner for their piece “One People, One Culture in a Drug Free Celebration”.
In the meanwhile, the Individual and Group category, aged 14 to 17, had Cummings Lodge Secondary awarded first position with their entry of Educating and Celebrating Our Culture Through a Fusion of Music.”
