Introduction to Special Education Needs and Disabilities will present opportunities for you to garner information, techniques and diagnostic tools to detect unique learning needs of students. Over the years there has been many changes and development in the way education is delivered to the student population. There has been an increase in children with special education needs and disabilities receiving educational instruction in classrooms with their non-disabled peers rather than separate from them. Therefore, we believe that if students are utilizing the same teaching-learning environment, teachers must be prepared to embrace and function in such a setting. This course is designed to ensure you are provided with information, knowledge, and skills to build in your practice the experiences needed to manage and thrive in challenging learning environments.
This course seeks to address the imperative need in Guyana, for Teachers to develop the habit of planning student-centered lessons instead of the traditional teacher-centered lessons; for significantly increased student participation and performance. It encompasses both asynchronous and synchronous learning platforms. The course is also interactive and contains 4 modules, which utilizes a total of 16 hours for completion.
This course is designed to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in facilitating physics related concepts at the Primary and Lower Secondary levels. It is observed that questions based on the concepts identified in this course are not popularly selected and performed well by students at the National Grades 6 and 9 Assessments. This course is hoped to build teachers competency in delivering these concepts so that their students will develop the necessary skills for improved performance.
This asynchronous course covers seven weeks (4 hours per week) of engaging lessons that are essential mainly for newly appointed teachers who require guidance and support in the theoretical and practical aspects of instructional delivery. This teacher upgrading course in Mathematics seeks to help teachers of Secondary mathematics upgrade their content knowledge in the seven strands of secondary mathematics. The course will empower teachers with knowledge about the concepts in those strands as well as the pedagogies associated with the teaching and learning of those concepts.
A Beginner's Reading Course was designed for Nursery and Primary school teachers. Upon completion of this course teachers will be equip with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to teach reading. Teachers will also be able to create diagnostic assessment to assess learners' reading level and diagnose instructional strategies to correct reading deficiencies.
This course is divided into five units. Participants are expected to complete each unit and respond to module activities in the discussion forum.

This six-hour asynchronous course is designed to help Primary school teachers deepen their understanding of the nature and purpose of inquiry -based learning in social studies and enhance their capacity at implementing inquiry-based instruction in their classrooms. It consists of four (4) modules and each can be completed within 90 minutes.
This six-hour asynchronous course seeks to enhance teachers' pedagogy in the classroom through Differentiation. Differentiated instruction requires changing content, delivery, and assessment methods based on students' needs while maintaining the same standards and objectives for all learners. Students need instruction that considers the many obstacles that they will face in the classroom. Each unit can be completed in ninety (90) minutes and provides teachers with specific tools that personalize and maximize students' learning. As students become responsible for their learning it will be reflected in higher levels of engagement.

This Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Course is designed to introduce teachers, especially at the primary level to ways in which they can help learners to develop and maintain their mathematical confidence.
