Welcome to DTOC. This course has been designed to support NCERD officers to design and develop their own online or blended courses. To that effect, the learning activities and assignments have been designed to build onto each other as building blocks: officers will learn by doing as they create the pieces that will become their course. Holistically, the course teaches instructors in different educational contexts how to develop online and blended courses and how to teach in an online environment.
This training initiative is designed to provide NCERD subject experts the ability to convert current training initiatives to blended and/or fully online courses using a Bichronous delivery models using a Moodle online platform. The support is divided into two different components. The first component is designed to provide a general understanding among all NCERD designers and developers of some of the core Learning Design principles, and provide core technical Moodle LMS skills, the second component is to offer substantive online support while NCERD designers/developers build their courses on the NCERD Moodle platform.

Introduction to Special Education Needs and Disabilities will present opportunities for you to garner information, techniques and diagnostic tools to detect unique learning needs of students. Over the years there has been many changes and development in the way education is delivered to the student population. There has been an increase in children with special education needs and disabilities receiving educational instruction in classrooms with their non-disabled peers rather than separate from them. Therefore, we believe that if students are utilizing the same teaching-learning environment, teachers must be prepared to embrace and function in such a setting. This course is designed to ensure you are provided with information, knowledge, and skills to build in your practice the experiences needed to manage and thrive in challenging learning environments.
This course is designed to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in facilitating physics related concepts at the Primary and Lower Secondary levels. It is observed that questions based on the concepts identified in this course are not popularly selected and performed well by students at the National Grades 6 and 9 Assessments. This course is hoped to build teachers competency in delivering these concepts so that their students will have profound knowledge and understanding of them thereby improving student performance.
This course covers seven weeks of engaging lessons for newly appointed teachers as well as those who need a refresher to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities in the design, development and use of teaching and learning resources. Teachers will participate in activities that will boost their skill set practically and motivate them to reflect on their instructional practices with a view of making necessary adjustments for improved performance of learners.
The role of Social Studies Educators is more than just to transmit knowledge to our learners. The course is aimed at equipping Primary School Teachers with a repertoire of teaching strategies that can be employed to meet learner needs, with the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Social Studies educators who will be exposed to this course will be better able to produce learners who will live healthy and productive lives in the society they find themselves
Game based-learning has evolved as a teaching and learning method for classroom practices. This course pays emphasis on the importance and effects of game-based learning in mathematics.
It strives to distinguish the difference between gamification and game-based learning. Acknowledging these differences enables teachers to plan lessons that will stimulate learners active engagement. This in turn provides learners with ample opportunities to develop knowledge and cognitive skills as well as connect mathematical situation to their context.
Integrating games in mathematics help teachers to provide support for learners with special needs, and increases their understanding of concept taught mathematics.
Knowing how to plan and execute the use of game-based learning in mathematics effectively will help you the educator to adjust content, and skills which can eventually impact learners performance in assessment.
This teacher upgrading course in Mathematics seeks to help teachers of Secondary mathematics upgrade their content knowledge in the seven strands of secondary mathematics. The course will empower teachers with knowledge about the concepts in those strands as well as the pedagogies associated with the teaching and learning of those concepts.
There is a variety of courses to choose from and teachers can start from anyone. The concepts are presented in an engaging way with examples and challenges embedded in them.
There are NINE modules in this course that are designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and competencies to teach secondary Mathematics up to grade 9. This is an online blended course which will afford you the opportunity to consolidate on your content knowledge while offering you the pedagogical support which you would need when you teach.
A Beginner's Reading Course was designed for Nursery and Primary school teachers. It is expected that after the completion of this course teachers will be equip with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to teach reading. Teachers will also be able to assess learners reading level and diagnose instructional strategies to correct reading deficiencies.
Teachers were previously train in these areas during face to face workshops but the covid 19 pandemic made this challenging.
This course is divided into five units. Participants are expected to complete each unit and respond to module activities in the discussion forum.
This Online Workshop for English Coordinators was designed to empower Regional Coordinators to support the English teachers in their respective regions. Regional Coordinators are working in the schools and are intimately aware of the challenges and strengths of their teachers and are in a better position to render practical support to them.
Previously this was delivered in a face-to-face setting. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this mode of delivery challenging. Consequently, the need arose for this to be conducted virtually and what better way to do this than through a LMS.
This course (workshop) is divided into 8 units. There will be many opportunities to collaborate with each other as coordinators work asynchronously. Effort was made to use various mediums of communication to facilitate learning in this space. At the end of the course there will also be room to make suggestions/recommendations in the evaluation of this course.
Looking forward to connecting with all of you!!

Differentiated instruction requires changing content, delivery, and assessment methods based on students' needs while maintaining the same standards and objectives for all learners. Students need instruction that considers many of the obstacles that they will face in the classroom. Research shows that differentiated instruction is effective for high-ability students as well as students with mild to severe disabilities (Doubet & Hockett, 2015). Differentiated instruction provides students with many different options for approaching learning tasks. As students become responsible for their learning it is reflected in higher levels of engagement.
Teachers pursuing this course will be exposed to Interactive ways of teaching Basic Chemistry concept taught at primary and the lower grades at secondary schools.
This Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Course is designed to introduce teachers, especially at the primary level to ways in which they can help learners to develop and maintain their mathematical confidence.
