The Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sport hosted a networking session today at the Umana Yana for the lawyers who recently returned from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago and CAPE students pursuing law at the Bishops High and Queen’s College.
‘To be better than who I am, to work harder, to use my time and energy meaningfully, to play sensibly, to always believe I can, to always comply with my instructions, and to have success only through courage, hard work, order and discipline.’ Those were the words recited by 240 new students commencing their studies at the Kuru Kuru Training Centre (KKTC).
At a well-attended ceremony on Thursday, President David Granger commissioned another school bus (David ‘G’ School Bus No. 13) at Tapakuma, an Amerindian village in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). This comes a day before the village hosts its heritage day activities. The bus is the latest of the 5Bs programme that makes a total of 13 buses distributed nationwide and the first 25-seater bus for Essequibo. It is designated to transport children from the Mainstay / Tapakuma community to and from schools on the Essequibo Coast.
... Attendance and punctuality show commitment
Today, the Ministry of Education held its annual Attendance and Punctuality Award Ceremony at the St. Joseph’s High School.
The Ministry in an effort to highlight the importance of punctuality and regular attendance at school has presented awards to 3,543 students from 72 schools in Georgetown. There are 91 schools in the city, however only 72 schools have recorded more than a 95% in the attendance rates for the 2015/2016 academic year.
