Numeracy and literacy programme to be taken to more primary schools

The remedial teaching programme, SuccessMaker, is to be introduced into another set of primary schools to help improve numeracy and literacy levels.

Building on the successes of SuccessMaker when it was introduced into the Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories of 70 primary schools across the country, the Ministry of Education is now moving to introduce the digital mathematic and reading programme into another 18 schools.news 20161027 5

Young people urged to pursue vocational careers

The Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) today hosted a Career Day to mark its 50th Anniversary. It was an opportunity for the training centre to showcase some of the skills that young people can acquire at the centre.

The training centre will be celebrating 50 years on December 14, 2016 and the theme for this year’s celebration is, ‘Development and Transformation for the 21st Century Workforce”.news 20161027 3

National Sports Database features unveiled

The National Sport Database was today unveiled at the National Sports Commission (NSC), Homestretch Avenue. The database will be the first local online database for sports.

The company contracted for the project is IntellectStorm, an Information Technology based solutions and marketing company. It is being done at a startup cost of $2.8 million. The company will be gathering data from as far back as the 1950s to digitally document the achievement of the country’s athletes from all disciplines.news 20161027 2
