The Guyana-China Friendship Youth Leadership Development Award competition is ongoing and on Thursday, the participants from the Georgetown Education District performed their talent pieces in the auditorium of Queen’s College. This is one component of the entire competition.

The eight students are Shiv Piterahdaue, Ariel Mohanlall, Dave Chowtie, Charisa Corbin, Tomom Wilson, Athea Allicock, all of Queen’s College, Rajeshwar Maeghbaran of St. Rose’s High School and T’Sehai Holder of the St. Stanislaus College.

The Leadership program will take the form of a competition that will focus on three areas; a community-based project, critique of a work of art and participation in sports activities such as athletics, gymnastics, dance and swimming.
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Mme. Guo Haiyan said that the competition has a special meaning and celebrates the 50 years of diplomatic relations between Guyana and China.
Thursday’s event also saw the attendance of the Head of the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL), Professor, Dr. Jacob Opadeyi, Administrator of the Unit of Allied Arts, Ms. Lorraine Barker-King, parents and students. There are eight participants in each of our 11 education districts. The winner in each district will receive US$1000.
