The School Welfare Unit of the Department of Education – Region Five embarked on another community outreach on Thursday. This time, in the Biaboo/District No. 10 and DeHoop communities.

The purpose of the exercise was to ensure that all school-aged children have access to the curriculum and provide psychosocial support and guidance to school-aged children and their parents.
While engaging the parents and students in the communities, masks and sanitisers donated by Muneshwers Limited were distributed. Meanwhile, stationery supplies provided by the Department of Education were also given to students.
While at the Biaboo Primary School, the team encouraged parents to support their children in their academic journey and to ensure that the children return their worksheets after completing the work.
The team of Officers also explained to parents what is expected of them during this time and were advised about strategies on how to teach their children reading.
The team was led by Senior Schools' Welfare officer Ms. Gloria Davidson-James. Ms. Davidson-James was accompanied by Education Officer Ms. Samantha Phagu-Singh, Literacy Coordinator Ms. Adele Whiter, Senior Guidance and Counselling Officer Mr. Naitram Lalaram and two police officers from the District No. 10 Police Outpost.
