The Regional Education Officers (REdO) and other senior education officials from across the country are currently meeting at the Herdmanston Lodge in Georgetown to devise appropriate approaches for the implementation of strategies arising out of the ‘Education Sector Plan 2019-2030: Vision 2030’.
The officials are currently engaged in a one week workshop which began on December 2-6, 2019. The capacity building initiative is a collaborative exercise between the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The workshop will address a number of areas that are critical to the education process. Gender in Education will come in for focus and how gender issues in education interact with other issues to intensify the impact of marginalization.
The workshop will also look at the stages of Education Sector Plan and what might be some challenges arising out of that and how those can be addressed.
Additionally, the workshop seeks to assist the (REdO) and other stakeholders in adapting the National Education Plan to their Regional realities.
The workshop is being conducted under the theme “Moving from Policy to Implementation”.
