EVEN as Guyana continues to emerge as a topper at national and regional examinations, the Ministry of Education is aiming to ensure that there are well-rounded students in the school system in an attempt to create better citizens and leaders.

Months after the devastating fire that destroyed much of the Christ Church Secondary School building in Georgetown, the Education Ministry on Wednesday signed seven contracts amounting to over $668 million to rebuild the school.

Guyana’s maritime and oil and gas sectors’ capacities were boosted on Wednesday, as supply vessel company ─ G-Boats launched two brand new tugboats at the G-Port Inc. wharf Kingston, Georgetown, on Wednesday.

Over 214,000 children from public and private schools will soon benefit from the annual ‘Because We Care’ cash grant coupled with the school uniform and supplies voucher totalling $40,000 per child, as the government will commence distribution countrywide on Monday, June 5.  

The Education Ministry will commence the distribution of the increased “Because We Care” cash grant for schoolchildren across the country from June 5.
