    It was announced today by the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand that come January 2022 when the new school term begins, all Grade 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 students will be expected to return fully to physical all-day classes once the ministry of health approves.

    The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) programme will now be offered at the West Demerara Secondary School in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), following a ceremonial launch by the Ministry of Education, on Wednesday.

  • West Demerara Secondary School students’ first shot at Portuguese

    news 2018607 9Twenty-one students attached to the West Demerara Secondary School (WDSS) will be the first to pursue studies in Portuguese at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) level.

    This was disclosed by WDSS Head Teacher Harry Narine, during an interview with the Department of Public Information.

    The West Demerara Secondary School and the Belle West Primary School have retained their top positions with student attendance for the academic year 2017-2018. Both schools had topped their levels for the 2016-2017 years. Topping the nursery level for the year 2017-2018 was Bagotville Nursery School.
