    Following a meeting last Thursday where the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Dr. Marcel Hutson met with several Social Studies and Science teachers to discuss the use of smart rooms to facilitate online reinforcement in the areas of English Language and Social Studies for learners in the hinterland and riverine communities, the CEO visited two smart rooms in Georgetown today that will facilitate this initiative.

    The Spanish language will be a compulsory language in public schools from September and Education Minister Priya Manickchand said the government is in talks with Cuba, Mexico and other bilateral partners on the possible use of teachers from those countries.

    The Ministry of Education is currently training Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) teachers how they can make their schools and classrooms more inclusive for special needs students.

    Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, MP, has said teachers will be using a consolidated curriculum which will be necessary for them to better teach students who were unable to have access to education during the pandemic.
