  • The first Literacy and Robotics Programme launched at the Den Amstel Primary School

    (February 27, 2023) – The Ministry of Education through the National Literacy Department and the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), launched the Literacy and Robotics Programme at the Den Amstel Primary School in Region Three today.

    Minister of Education Dr. the Hon. Nicolette Henry was today paid a courtesy call from Dr Toney May, Commonwealth of Learning Specialist accompanied by General-Secretary of the UNESCO Secretariat in Guyana, Ms. Patrice LaFleur.     (April 1, 2022) – Today the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) launched Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month 2022. Today’s launch began with an Autism Walk which began at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) and ended at Main Street Avenue in front of GPL’s office where a formal programme to launch the month of activities was held.

    Dr. Petal Punalall-Jetoo
    National Science Coordinator(NCERD)

    Dr. Petal Punalall-Jetoo is the National Science Coordinator and heads the Science Unit within the Ministry of Education NCERD, Guyana. She is responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring programmes that improve Secondary School science education. She introduced the Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) pilot project for Primary Schools in collaboration with the Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS) and UNESCO.
