    Soon the students in the Barima-Waini region (Region One) will benefit from three new schools.

    (May 23, 2022) – The Ministry of Education on Monday rolled out a three-day programme for preparing for the rollout of the renewed curriculum.

  • Trained teachers to receive their permanent certificate

    The Ministry of Education wishes to advise that the Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand has given directives to the Chief Education Officer to grant a waiver for the issuance of permanent certificates to all teachers who have completed five (5) years of post-training.

  • Training of literacy volunteers commenced -       Aimed at expediting the attainment of national literacy goals

     (October 18, 2022) – The National Literacy Department of the Ministry of Education commenced a three-day training workshop for literacy volunteers who wish to assist the Ministry to attain national literacy goals. The workshop is being held at the Ramada Princess Hotel.

    Kaieteur News – President Irfaan Ali on Friday administered the Oath of Office to two members of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) at the Office of the President (OP) thereby fully constituting the Commission.

  • Tucville secondary school closed; classes back online as electrical issues being investigated

    The Tucville Secondary school in Georgetown has been closed as the Ministry of Education investigates complaints of hazardous electrical issues at the school.

  • TVET departments of 10 secondary schools boosted with safety equipment

    THE Ministry of Education through the office of the Deputy Chief Education Officer (Technical), Dr. Ritesh Tularam, handed over safety equipment to 10 secondary schools that offer the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.

  • Twelve teachers complete Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education

    (March 20, 2023) – Twelve teachers from schools across the coast are the first batch of persons who have completed their Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education offered by the Indira Ghandi Open University (IGNOU) through the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL.)

  • Two hinterland schools being readied for CAPE

    The Port Kaituma Secondary School in Region One, and the St. Ignatius Secondary School in Region Nine have been identified by the Ministry of Education (MoE) to become senior secondary schools, and to offer Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) subjects.

  • UAE to train 150,000 Guyanese in coding; Pres. Ali offers CARICOM similar opportunity

    Guyana, with assistance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will be training at least 150,000 Guyanese school children in coding for Information Communications Technology (ICT), and President Irfaan Ali on Wednesday said he would be pushing for students in sister-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states to also get similar trading.
