  • $28.4 M new wing for St Therese primary school

    The St. Therese Primary School in New Amsterdam, Region Six is expected to get a new wing at a cost of some $28.4 million which will allow more students to be accommodated at the institution.

    Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand says parents/ guardians will not be limited to purchasing school items with the Government’s $3.2B Because We Care and school items cash grants.

  • $566.9 Million Contract signed for rebuilding of North Ruimveldt Secondary School

    Minister of Education Priya Manickchand witnessed the signing of the contract. She said the fire which gutted the school has had a devastating impact, even in the school being forced to reduce its intake.

  • $6B being injected into local economy

    –Education Minister says every school-aged child will benefit

    THE Ministry of Education on Tuesday began the distribution of the education cash grant across the country as parents of school-aged children turned up at schools to uplift their vouchers in the sum of $30,000.

  • $89 million Martyrs’ Ville Nursery School officially commissioned

    -       Another promise delivered

     (September 10, 2022) – A promise was made to the residents of the Martyr’s Ville Community on the East Coast of Demerara that a nursery school will be built in the community to relieve parents of the burden of taking their children to the Mon Repos Nursery School and the Good Hope Nursery School which are located further away.

  • 10 TVET educators now equipped with Diploma in Heavy-Duty Equipment Maintenance

    (August 9, 2022) –  As the Ministry of Education continues to enhance the delivery of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), ten (10) educators are now equipped with a Diploma in Heavy-Duty Equipment Maintenance.

  • 110 students honoured for making Golf history at CSEC® 2022

    (October 21, 2022) – On Friday, 110 students who undertook Golf for the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Certificate (CSEC®) 2022 were honoured for their outstanding performance.

  • 12 teachers complete Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education

    SOME 12 teachers from schools across the coast comprise the first batch of persons who have completed their Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) through the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL).

  • 200 learners with disabilities to benefit from new aquatic therapy pool

    200 learners with disabilities from rehabilitation centres across Guyana are set to benefit from a new aquatic therapy pool being constructed at the Regional Special Education Needs and Disability Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

  • 25 smart classrooms on the cards for 2023

    SOME 25 smart classrooms are expected to be enhanced or established, this year, at secondary schools across Guyana, to add to the over 10 schools in Guyana that have already been equipped with smart classrooms over the last two years.

    The Ministry of Education today rolled out a three-day programme for preparing for the rollout of the renewed curriculum.

  • 38 Adolescent mothers graduate from MOE’s reintegration programme

    Thirty-eight mothers are now equipped with skills in cosmetology to gain employment or become entrepreneurs in the field.

  • 4000 free online courses available to Guyanese

    — through partnership with Commonwealth

    —courses offered by top universities

    —certificates awarded upon completion

  • 45 teachers in Region Three complete MoE’s Education Management Certificate Course

    Some forty-five teachers in the Region Three Education District are now equipped with better management skills following the completion of the Ministry of Education’s Education Management Certificate Course.

    The graduation ceremony was held in the boardroom of the Department of Education Region Three. The graduating teachers were from Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools across the Essequibo Islands, West Demerara region

  • 58 Region Nine teachers graduate ProFutoro programme

    (September 13, 2022) Fifty-eight teachers from the Upper Takatu-Essequibo Region (Region Nine) are now certified through the ProFuturo Digital Education Programme.

  • 69 educators graduate from MoE’s Education Management Certificate Course

    (July 5, 2022) - To improve the management skills of educators across Guyana, sixty-seven educators in the Region Four Education district and two from Region Eight’s Education district on Tuesday graduated from the Ministry of Education’s Education Management Certificate Course.
