    Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, MP, says the Government has been receiving positive responses from parents and adolescents, since the commencement of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for children 12 to 17 years old.

    The rollout of the special COVID-19 vaccines for children ages five to 11 will begin on Saturday, June 11, at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac, Georgetown.

    The Ministry of Education welcomes the inclusion of teachers in the next batch of beneficiaries of COVID-19 vaccines, as this would increase the chances of the reopening of some schools.

    Guyana has received 146,250 doses of the US made Pfizer vaccine from the United States Government for the immunisation of children 12 to 17 years old. The vaccines arrived on board a FedEx Express flight at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) Tuesday afternoon.

  • Over 4000 parents grant permission for vaccination of children; Pfizer vaccines arrive

    The Government of Guyana this afternoon received a donation of 146,250 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the United States, which according to the Education Ministry is more than enough to cover Guyana’s school population of children above the age of 12-years-old.

  • Parents must give consent and accompany children for vaccination against COVID

    In addition, to the need for parental permission to be granted for a child to be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Education Ministry and the Health Ministry are now requiring a parent to accompany the child when they have to receive the vaccine.
