  • BUDGET 2022: Building schools, scholarships big focus of $74.4 B education budget

    Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh has announced that $74.4 billion has been allocated to improving access to education and education delivery in the 2022 National Budget.

  • Building, rehabilitation of schools a key priority in education budget

    With the objective of providing equitable access to quality education to Guyana’s children, a significant amount of the $74.4 billion budgetary allocation to the education sector will be used for the construction of educational facilities countrywide.

  • CDB approves US$11M loan for Tourism & Hospitality Institute

    The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved a US$11 million (approximately $2.3 billion) loan for the development of a Tourism and Hospitality Institute in Guyana. This was announced by Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh.

    The $74.4 billion allocated to improving access to education and education delivery in the 2022 National Budget is evident of the PPP/C Administration’s strategy for development said Minister Priya Manickchand. This is a significant increase compared to last year’s allocation of $60.7 billion.

  • ‘Because We Care’ cash grant increased to $25,000 per child

    –school uniform grant increased from $4,000 to $5,000
