    Nursery Field Officer of Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice) Fayann Tappin-Benn has reported that the Ministry of Education National Curriculum Reform has been a source of positive change at the nursery level in the region.

    Representatives of the World Bank and the Ministry of Education and the Project Team met today at the office of the World Bank to discuss the implementation of the Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) as it relates to the Curriculum Renewal Process.

    This deliberate move will be implemented through the Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) which is being executed by the Ministry of Education. The project, which is receiving funding from the World Bank to the tune of US$6 million, is designed to target students at the nursery, primary and lower secondary levels.

    news 20170920 6The Government of Guyana through the Ministry of Education and the World Bank on Wednesday launched the Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), Georgetown.

     Mathematics Master Trainers today signed their contracts to begin working with mathematics teachers across the 10 Administrative Regions to improve the delivery of the subject and ultimately the mathematics performance among students at the secondary level.

  • Ministry of Education Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) Vacancy – Social Development Specialist

    The Co-operative Republic of Guyana has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to the hiring of a Social Development Specialist who will be responsible for ensuring that Project activities are meeting the social requirements, especially as spelt out in the Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP), posing low social risks, and complying with the World Bank’s safeguards policies.

    The Ministry of Education, Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) now invites suitably qualified persons to fill this vacancy.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as sociology, social works, anthropology, social development, or a related social science;
    • At least five years of experience in Social Development and Social Protection;
    • Knowledge in and familiarity with handling social aspects of projects, including social assessments, community consultations and indigenous communities;
    • Fluency in English and good communication, report writing and presentation skills.
