    Ahead of the release of the results of this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), Guyana has been engaging the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) on some ‘ungraded’ results.

    With a total of 12,009 students sitting the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) 2020 examinations, Guyana has recorded an overall pass rate of 75.99 per cent as compared to 73 per cent in 2019.

    The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has announced the 2021 top awardees for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations with Guyanese students receiving the top awards for both.

  • Guyana’s CAPE performance higher than regional average

    At the 2021 sitting of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), the performance of Guyana’s students was marginally higher than the rest of the region. In Guyana, 88 per cent of the CAPE candidates attained acceptable Grades One to Five passes as opposed to the Caribbean’s 87 per cent pass rate.

    The performance of Guyanese candidates at the 2021 sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations has been better than the regional average according to Director of Operations at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), Dr. Nicole Manning.

    Today the Ministry of Education began its engagement with teachers at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) level to discuss the preparation of students for the 2021 examinations.

    The Ministry of Education announced yesterday that it will be hosting an online meeting with parents and teachers of Georgetown and Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) for students writing the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency (CAPE) examinations in 2021.
