    Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand says this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) would be held in June/July.

    Today, the Ministry of Education announced the names of the top performers at the 2021 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE®) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC®) examination. We extend congratulations to all of the candidates that wrote both examinations and we wish them continued success on their journey.

    The Ministry of Education continues to meet stakeholders on plans for the reopening of schools for CSEC and CAPE students. Over the past two days more than 900 teachers and officials from Regions One, Two, Four, Five, Six, Eight, Nine and Ten were engaged by way of a Zoom meeting on key decisions regarding reopening of schools, the Ministry reported.

  • Education Ministry to engage religious bodies to reach and support disadvantaged students

    While delivering remarks on Saturday at the ‘Celebration Day’ event hosted by the First Assembly of God Wortmanville Church, the Honourable Minister of Education Priya Manickchand disclosed that more than 2000 students have not turned out to school and sadly the reasons range from not having school uniform and school supplies to entering the workforce to not having transportation and money for same as well as fear of the pandemic.

    (June 22, 2022) – Students from both Primary and secondary schools in Georgetown were on Wednesday honoured for their academic achievements as the Department of Education - Georgetown hosted its Regional Award Ceremony for the academic year 2020 – 2021.

    It was announced today by the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand that come January 2022 when the new school term begins, all Grade 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 students will be expected to return fully to physical all day classes once the ministry of health approves.

  • Guyana chosen by CXC as host for release of CSEC, CAPE 2021 results

    The Caribbean Examination Council’s (CXC) Caribbean Secondary Education Certification (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) were written during the period of June -July of this year. The examinations were written later this year due to the effects, consequences, and impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the Caribbean and the world.
