President’s College (PC) is seeking to employ a highly motivated, mature and competent individual for the position of Accountant. Applicants must possess the following qualities:

• Ability to multi task;
• Strong Leadership skills;
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Computer literate especially in the areas of Accounting Software suites, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint;

Applicants must have:

1. A Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Management, or similar field from a recognized tertiary institution with at least six years’ experience in supervising capacity at a reputable organization.

OR

2. A Diploma in Accounting/Finance, Business Management, or similar field from a recognized tertiary institution with at least nine (9) years’ experience in supervising capacity at a reputable organization.

3. Successful Completion of:

1. Section/parts 1, 11, 111 of the ACCA or ACMA examinations or
2. Parts of the final ACIS examinations with at least three (3) years’ experience as an Assistant Accountant.

PLUS: Experience and Certification in the use of Accounting Software and International Financial Management and Accounting Systems (IFMAS) will be considered an asset.

The Co-operative Republic of Guyana has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to the hiring of a Social Development Specialist who will be responsible for ensuring that Project activities are meeting the social requirements, especially as spelt out in the Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP), posing low social risks, and complying with the World Bank’s safeguards policies.

The Ministry of Education, Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) now invites suitably qualified persons to fill this vacancy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as sociology, social works, anthropology, social development, or a related social science;
• At least five years of experience in Social Development and Social Protection;
• Knowledge in and familiarity with handling social aspects of projects, including social assessments, community consultations and indigenous communities;
• Fluency in English and good communication, report writing and presentation skills.
