Ministry of Education Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) Vacancy – Social Development Specialist

The Co-operative Republic of Guyana has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to the hiring of a Social Development Specialist who will be responsible for ensuring that Project activities are meeting the social requirements, especially as spelt out in the Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP), posing low social risks, and complying with the World Bank’s safeguards policies.

The Ministry of Education, Guyana Education Sector Improvement Project (GESIP) now invites suitably qualified persons to fill this vacancy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as sociology, social works, anthropology, social development, or a related social science;
  • At least five years of experience in Social Development and Social Protection;
  • Knowledge in and familiarity with handling social aspects of projects, including social assessments, community consultations and indigenous communities;
  • Fluency in English and good communication, report writing and presentation skills.

TOR - Individual Consultant for Comprehensive Sexuality Education for the Spotlight Initiative

The European Union and the United Nations in partnership with the Ministry of Education, under the Spotlight Initiative, invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the below individual consultancy:

Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for the Spotlight Initiative (Nationals of Guyana only)

Purpose of the Assignment: Under the overall supervision of the Youth and Adolescent Officer of UNICEF, the Consultant will work in close collaboration with the UNICEF team and stakeholders [inclusive of the Ministry of Education and other relevant UN organizations with expertise and interest in CSE, such as UNESCO and UNFPA] and will:

1.Provide quantitative and qualitative information to selected Health and Family Life Education (HFLE) teachers in identified regions on a positive life-cycle approach to sexuality, gender equity norms/attitudes and behaviours, gender related violence, CSE and the root cause of violence in Regions 1,4,6,7.

2.Develop manuals to be used with 1) teachers and the Cyril Potter College of Education - CPCE , 2) FBOs and CSOs, as well as develop classroom sessions for children to address a positive life-cycle approach to sexuality, gender equity norms/attitudes and behaviours and, gender related violence

3.Build the capacity of teachers, CSOs and FBOs to apply a positive life-cycle approach to sexuality, gender equity norms/attitudes and behaviours and, gender related violence

4.Develop programme and community engagement manuals for in-school children and out-of-school adolescents and youth on gender equity norms/attitudes and behaviours and, gender related violence to address a positive life-cycle approach to sexuality, gender equity norms/attitudes and behaviours, gender related and root cause of violence in Regions 1,4,6,7.

Ministry of Education Guyana Education Sector Program Project (GESPP) Vacancy – Project Coordinator

The Government of Guyana will receive support from the World Bank (WB) through the Guyana Education Sector Program Project (GSEPP).

This project is expected to be implemented from 2021-2024, at an estimated cost of US$6.7 million. The objectives of the project are: (i Improving Learning Conditions at the Nursery level; and (ii) Promoting Technology-Assisted Learning at the Primary level.

The Ministry of Education now invites suitably qualified persons to fill this vacancy.
