CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY
- Household Management - applicants must attain the age of sixteen (16) years by 31st August, 2021.
- Garment Construction and Interior Decoration - applicants must attain the age of eighteen (16) years by 31st August, 2021.
- Commercial Food Preparation – applicants must attain the age of sixteen (16) years by 31st August, 2021.
- General Cosmetology - applicants must attain the age of seventeen (17) years by 31st August, 2021.
- Housekeeping Level 1, Care for the Elderly and Childcare Management Level 11- applicants must attain the age of sixteen (16) years by 31st August, 2021.
- Catering & Hospitality - applicants must attain the age of eighteen (18) years by 31st August, 2021.
- Nutrition for Dietary Technician - applicants must attain the age of eighteen (16) years by 31st August, 2021.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate in Interior Decoration, Garment Construction, Commercial Food Preparation, and General Cosmetology.
- Minimum qualifications of SSPE 1 & 11 or SCCP in related subject areas and a sound secondary school education are required.
- Passes in at least two CSEC subjects (Grade 1-4) would be an asset.
For Garment Making and Interior Decoration, a basic knowledge of sewing is an asset.
Certificate in Care for the Elderly Level 1and Childcare Management Level 11
- Must have a Level 1 Certificate in Care for the Elderly and Childcare Management
- Have worked or is working in a Care Giving Facility
- Willing to be placed in a Care Facility for practicum
- Recent Police Clearance
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate
Certificate in Housekeeping Level 1
- Willing to be placed in a Hospitality setting for practicum
- Recent Police Clearance
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate
Diploma in Catering & Hospitality
- Minimum qualifications of four (4) CXC, CSEC subjects (Grades 1-4). Passes in Food & Nutrition and Home Economics Management would be an asset.
- Mature applicants, twenty five (25) years and older who have experience in the Hospitality and Catering Industry will be considered.
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate.
Nutrition for Dietary Technician
- A minimum of five (5) GCE O' Levels or five (5) CSEC passes including English Language, Mathematics and Science Subject.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the prerequisite are required to write an entrance examination.
All applicants are required to attend an interview.
Application Forms are available from Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at a cost of three hundred dollars ($300.00) at the Carnegie School of Home Economics, Durban and High Streets, Werk-en-Rust.
Forms must be accompanied by:
- A copy of birth certificate.
- Two (2) recent passport sized photographs.
- A recent recommendation from previous school, previous employer or community leader.
