On June 28, 2016, Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine visited the Tucville Secondary School where he met with teachers.
At the meeting teachers expressed several concerns, some which included matters relating to security, automatic promotion, lack of equipment for sports, shortage of furniture, and inadequate facilities for teachers.

The Ministry of Education has noted with concern that some School Administrators have been requesting significant sums of money for the registration of new students to Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools under the pretext that such sums were previously agreed upon by the Parent Teachers Association.

 First Lady, H.E. Mrs Sandra Granger opened The Guyana Olympic Association Women and Sport Seminar this morning at the National Sport Resource Centre, Woolford Avenue.

The First Lady made her remarks to a strong contingent of women who travelled from every corner of Guyana to attend the one and a half day event, with representation from nine out of our ten regions.
